I’m not a fan of Justin Bieber. I’m more of who-the-hell-is-Justin-Bieber-and-why-does-he-have-an-album-I-think-I-should-listen-just-to-know-what-the-fuzz-is-about-him kind of girl. So, I decided to get a copy of his album.

After listening to his album, I’ve come to a conclusion that I do appreciate overly-produced music but I could only take so much.

Not to take credit away from Usher’s project, Justin can sing. He’s not in the leagues of the heavy-weight musicians out there but this kid could carry a tune. Its decent. But I guess, I’m far too old to appreciate a song that talks about love in mathematical context (Common Denominator).

The album is not as horrible as I expect it would be (or maybe it was horrible, I just learned how to tune out bad music). Hmm… Anyway, there are two songs that I do like: One Less Lonely Girl, Down to Earth. Its fun and I think these are the only two songs that have minimal tweaking relative to the other tracks (which means to say that it STILL is overly produced but turned down half a notch). Its a shame really when music producers resort to overly ‘colorizing’ tracks and don’t let their artist’s voices shine. Of course, he’s no Usher but give the kid a chance to showcase his voice. But I guess, how do you show off a voice with lyrics such as this:

"I was a player when I was little || but now I'm bigger I'm bigger || A heart-breaker when I was little || but now I'm bigger I'm bigger || And all the haters I swear || They look so small from up here || Cuz we're bigger, love's bigger, I'm bigger and you're bigger"

Any guess to the title of this song? Bigger, you say? Are you sure? Its only been said like 10,000 times within the chorus.
If you do want to check him out for yourself, buy One Less Lonely Girl and Down to Earth at iTunes.
